The intimacy of silence

Silence…a word that recalls to my mind the quiet of a night after work, the joy of parents when their kids are in bed, the peace of a snowy mountain, the beauty of a glass of wine in a winter night.

Silence for me means also the intimacy of a long lasting relationship when a simple glance is worth thousand words, when a complicit smile of sisters tells a life long story, when you feel comfortable staying silent on the bus with your bestfriend not trying to break the embarrassment of silence.

I remember my grandmother saying to me “Some days me and your grandpa remain silent for long, he never says a word, and me neither…” when boredom comes for an old couple…this is silence too.
